GRACE Communications Foundation develops innovative strategies and consumer tools to increase public awareness of the critical environmental and public health issues created by our current industrial food system, and to advocate for more sustainable alternatives.

FoodPrint, a project of the foundation, is a mission-driven website that aims to help people understand how the food that we eat impacts animals, people and planet, while providing tools for making more sustainable choices.

FoodPrint.org is currently seeking an experienced writer and editor. In this role you’ll have the chance to drive real food systems change and connect readers around the country to the deep knowledge and practical advice they need to be part of a growing good food movement.

We are seeking a candidate who has 4+ years of previous writing and editing experience, to work closely with the Director of FoodPrint and the entire FoodPrint team. This position will be doing editorial planning and management, as well as writing and editing.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage FoodPrint’s editorial calendar
  • Work with freelance reporters, fielding pitches and assigning pieces
    • Supervising the content creation process from writing through editing and publishing
  • Write articles for FoodPrint
  • Oversee content creation for FoodPrint’s weekly email
  • Develop content sharing strategies that can grow audience and increase engagement, including partnerships, cross posting opportunities etc.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Knowledge about/passion for food and agriculture issues
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in writing and editing for digital platforms
  • Copy editing experience
  • Attention to detail and organized work style
  • Demonstrated experience in (or at minimum a dedication to) elevating voices, ideas, needs, and concerns of communities of color and other people historically marginalized in the food and farming landscape.

Location: New York

Salary range: $70-80K
